Founded in 1993 by a group of concerned parents in Sonoma, the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation (SVEF) exists to promote excellence in our Sonoma Valley public schools. Fact Sheet
The Sonoma Valley Education Foundation (SVEF) was founded in 1993 by a group of concerned parents in Sonoma.
- SVEF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
- SVEF exists to promote excellence in our Sonoma Valley public schools.
- SVEF raises money for programs and materials that are not covered through district funds.
- SVEF partners with other organizations and businesses to accomplish its objectives.
- SVEF awards grants at various times throughout the academic year.
- In 1999 SVEF began to award larger “impact” grants to outstanding programs in our schools (The Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance, the Success for All reading program at Flowery and El Verano Elementary Schools, and the Digital High School project).
- In 2000, SVEF opened an office in Sonoma and hired Tim Boeve as Executive Director.
- In 2007, SVEF hired Fran Meininger as Executive Director.
